2020 New Vocations Annual Open Barn and BBQ Event Cancelled

March 19, 2020 – Lexington, KY – With the safety of all spectators in mind, New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program regrettably announces the cancellation of their annual Open Barn and BBQ event, which was slated to be held on Friday, April 24, at their farm in Lexington, KY. An annual educational experience held concurrently with the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event, the organization opens its barn doors to over 500 guests at the conclusion of Friday dressage competition at the Kentucky Horse Park.
To safeguard against COVID-19 and the spread of the novel coronavirus, the program has elected to reschedule the event for Friday, April 23, 2021. Guests of honor for the 2020 event, international event rider Dorothy [Trapp] Crowell, two-time Kentucky Oaks winning jockey Rosie Napravnik and Executive Director of the Retired Racehorse Project Jen Roytz, are looking forward to their involvement with the event next year.
“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Rosie, Dorothy, Jen and our entire New Vocations Kentucky staff who have worked diligently to ensure that the 2020 Open Barn and BBQ would be a success,” says Sarah Coleman, director of public and community relations for New Vocations. “While we are disappointed to have to cancel the event, the health and safety of our staff, guests and supporters are of the utmost importance to us, and as such we are following the recommendations of national and global health experts. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the farm next year to celebrate the heart of the Thoroughbred athlete.”
All purchased tickets will be refunded. The program looks forward to the event resuming in 2021. Questions or concerns? Email Sarah at sarah@horseadoption.com.
