Are you looking for a super young prospect? We’ve got your guy! Drewmisterio is the one!

Tall, dark, handsome and beautifully uphill, Drew is a gentleman on the ground and is very easy to be around. He loves his mane scratched and makes the best faces when you hit his sweet spots. He stands well in cross-ties and for the farrier and the vet. He is easy to lead and doesn’t show any inclination to invade one’s personal space.

Drew has a spectacular canter … an absolute 10! His beautiful uphill build lends itself well to his naturally balanced and ground covering stride. He’s a big 5-year-old boy who happens to be very athletic! His trot is developing nicely and he is learning to relax through his back and through his poll. He happily offers to lift his shoulder and back and with push from behind. He is very clever and gets better every ride. He trots over poles on the ground, walks through water obstacles and hacks out on the trails happily. He has started over small crossrails.

Drew is a sweet guy and tries very hard to please his rider. Due to his size, athleticism and potential an experienced rider with a history of bringing along athletic, young Thoroughbreds would be the best fit.

Drew retired sound from racing. He does have a set osselet on his left ankle, but it’s caused him no issues since we have had him in the program.

Drew shows tremendous potential for a fabulous sporthorse career with a bold, talented and ambitious rider as his partner. He is so special, he deserves a pilot equal to him.

New Vocations’ adoption fees are intentionally set lower than the cost of buying most Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds through a private seller. In today’s market, it’s not unusual for horses coming right off the track to be listed for sale at a price between $2,000 and $5,000. At New Vocations, we set a fee that will ultimately help each horse find a home quickly. The program’s facilities are always at full capacity, which means we cannot take in an additional horse until one is adopted. Adopters should be encouraged to know that by adopting a horse through New Vocations, they are actually helping two horses transition to careers outside of racing.

Additionally, adopters get great value for their money: The majority of the horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days. During that time, horses are rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, fully evaluated, and in work with a professional trainer. New Vocations fully discloses each horse’s history and provides all available medical records, many of which include X-ray and ultrasounds.

While adoption fees are low, it should be noted that costs associated with ongoing care and additional training for each horse after adoption can be high. New Vocations hopes that by helping an adopter save money upfront, he or she will have more funds available to cover the continuing costs of properly caring for a horse.
