Ari is a very laid back easy going 5 year old with a goofy inquisitive personality and an old soul. He loves to investigate his surroundings, not hesitating to pick up a plastic bag or a grooming bag to wave around in the air and see what he can shake out of it. He is not spooky at all and moves at a nice leisurely pace. Ari walks nicely on a lead, is easy to catch, stands for grooming, picks up his hooves, and loads/unloads easily.
He has been a pasture ornament for the last few months, but when saddled up he was a perfect gentleman. Ari would make a wonderful trail partner, or western pleasure with his slow steady walk/trot. He is comfortable in both english and western tack. Ari is sound and currently barefoot, he would be best suited for flat work only as he retired from racing due to fetlock issues. I have him on an inexpensive joint supplement to support his joint health.
Ari still needs work on the basics, but is an eager and willing student. He would be great for an advanced beginner working with a trainer or someone who is looking for a great trail riding companion.
I am only rehoming him as my circumstances have changed and I do not have the time to be the partner he needs.

Original New Vocations Posting:
Artful Union is a kind old soul with a been there, done that type of attitude. After making nearly $100K in 10 starts, he is glad to have his hard work behind him, and enjoys a slow pace of life. He is very easy to get along with on the ground and under saddle, and is suitable for a novice rider. He tries hard and enjoys having a job, but will be most comfortable with easy light work after racing injuries to his hind fetlocks. He would be fantastic in a therapy program, Parelli training, hill topping in the hunt field, or trail riding. He is a straightforward kick ride with a soft mouth and responds to voice commands.
Ari is quietly confident and independent and takes everything in stride. He’s not a very lovey horse, but does enjoy companionship and appreciates attention. Ari stands in cross ties and is learning to ground tie, since he isn’t interested in going anywhere other than where you’re paying attention to him (especially not before he gets his treat). He is turned out with a group of geldings that won’t let him be head dude, and he minds his own business grazing and ambling around.
